On September 20, the Wichita Foundation Amphitheater made its grand debut at the Exploration Place Drone Light Festival. Despite weather setbacks, the festival energized the riverfront, drawing crowds to celebrate and experience this new community space.
Throughout the weekend, Wichitans gathered at the amphitheater, filling the space with connection, energy and shared experiences. Exploration Place kept the momentum going in October with RiverFlix, a series of outdoor movie nights that transformed the fall evenings.
Watching the vision of the Wichita Foundation Amphitheater come to life as a lively riverfront destination has been nothing short of inspiring. This space isn’t just a venue—it’s a gateway to connection, culture and the vibrant spirit that defines our city.
We’re grateful for everyone who brought this project to life. From the dedication of our Board and staff to the support of the ImpactICT Fund and Exploration Place, this project reflects a shared passion for enriching our community. Whether you helped design, build, or simply showed up to enjoy the debut, you played a role in creating a place where memories are made.
And this is just the beginning. With more outdoor programs returning in 2025, not only by Exploration Place but also from other organizations, we can’t wait to see how this space evolves into an even bigger part of Wichita’s story. See you at the Wichita Foundation Amphitheater next year!
