Tax credit opportunities

As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening Wichita's nonprofit community, the Wichita Foundation is highlighting local organizations that offer tax credits. These tax credits allow donors to maximize the impact of their giving, helping local nonprofits fund vital projects while receiving a significant tax benefit in return. Explore the opportunities below:

Ability Point

  • AbilityPoint, formerly The Arc of Sedgwick County, has been a cornerstone of support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families since 1953. Each year, more than 2,200 children, teens, and adults participate in its educational, social, recreational, and family support programs—strengthening communication skills, nurturing friendships, building independence, and providing vital respite and resources for caregivers. To meet growing needs and ensure the facilities reflect their programs, AbilityPoint launched the To The Point Capital Campaign, a $3.1 million initiative to expand and modernize their campus. This project includes the construction of a new Client Service & Activity Center, renovations to the existing building, and upgrades that improve accessibility, safety, and the overall quality of the spaces where individuals learn, socialize, and receive care.
  • Tax credit details: Individuals who purchase these Community Service Tax credits receive a 50% Kansas state tax credit on their contribution—creating a powerful opportunity for donors to increase their impact while investing in a project that will strengthen services for generations. Deadline to purchase is December 31, 2025.

Music Theatre Wichita

  • Music Theatre Wichita is renovating and equipping a facility to serve as its Education Academy. The facility project serves to address the growing number of youth and young adults engaged in the art and craft of musical theatre, including but not limited to the following: performance, lighting, sound, set design, costumes, wig and makeup design, and more. Skills are developed as students are immersed in a set of integrated educational programs.
  • Tax credit details: $8,200. Deadline to purchase is December 31, 2025.

The Wichita Children's Home

  • The Wichita Children's Home is planning a new home for Gerard House on its main campus, an exciting step toward strengthening support for pregnant and parenting teens. Currently located near Hillside and Harry, Gerard House offers stable housing and essential services like education, daycare, parenting support, and therapy. Many of these services already exist on the WCH campus, including a USD 259 classroom, on-site daycare, life skills training, and a soon-to-be-built healing center. By relocating Gerard House to the WCH main campus, all these wraparound services can come together in a purpose-built space, creating a more holistic and healing environment for young mothers and their children.
  • Tax credit details: Up to $1,250,000 available in 2025 under the Pregnancy Resource Act for a 70% Kansas state tax credit (based on availability and approval). Deadline is December 31, 2025.
