Welcome Back, Jacqueline! Summer Intern returns to WF for a second summer

June 26, 2026 | Stories

The Wichita Foundation (WF) is excited to welcome back Jacqueline (Jackie) Lara Terrazas for a second summer through the Greater Wichita YMCA’s Job Prep program, a 12-week experience that helps teens build early career skills and confidence in the workplace.

Now a senior at Wichita North High School, Jackie returns to WF with a summer of experience already behind her and a deeper understanding of how her work supports the organization. After spending last summer learning WF systems and supporting day-to-day operations, she is stepping back in with greater confidence and a stronger role in helping advance internal projects.

A member of HALO, DECA, and bowling and tennis teams at North, Jackie continues to bring curiosity, energy and a strong sense of community into the workplace. This summer also gives her the opportunity to build on what she learned last year while exploring how her interests connect to future career paths.

“We are thrilled to have our returning high school intern back with us this summer,” said Jessica Hanzlicek Treadwell, Director of Philanthropic Growth at WF. “After spending last year learning the ins and outs of our systems, she was able to hit the ground running and immediately contribute to projects across the organization.”

“As she heads into her senior year, she is bringing not only growing professional experience but also a valuable younger perspective that adds new ideas and insights to our work,” Hanzlicek Treadwell added. “Those different viewpoints often lead to stronger outcomes, and we are grateful to have her on the team as we continue exploring new ways to serve and grow Wichita.”

WF is proud to continue investing in young leaders like Jackie as they grow their skills, explore their futures, and contribute meaningfully to the Wichita community.

What are you looking forward to the most?

“I am looking forward to really learning the pillars of community impact and how I can help with that impact. I also look forward to learning more about collaborative teamwork and the communication between each team member. In general, I want to enjoy this internship and learn the most I can from it.”
