For more than a decade, Orpheum Performing Arts Center, LTD (the Orpheum Theatre) has partnered with the Wichita Foundation (WF) to steward donor support, manage philanthropic investments and help sustain one of Wichita’s most iconic historic venues.
Preserving and operating a 100-year-old theatre requires restoration, long-term philanthropic planning, and trusted donor relationships. WF has supported that work behind the scenes.
An early tool in the partnership was the creation of the Orpheum Restoration and Renovation Fund in 2014, an agency fund established at WF, which managed charitable contributions for the theatre’s upkeep and long-term needs. Over time, the relationship grew beyond a single fund.
“The investments the Wichita Foundation has made, as well as their management of investments, are fundamental for a growing and thriving community,” said Orpheum Theatre Executive Director, Stacee Olden. “This partnership helps us connect with donors we might not discover otherwise, and it offers the ability to dive deeper into our philanthropic community.”
WF staff have also supported the theatre’s fundraising through relationship building, charitable guidance and advocacy across the philanthropic network.
While the Restoration and Renovation Fund has fulfilled its purpose, the milestone reflects progress in the theatre’s journey and an ongoing partnership.
In 2025, the Orpheum began a yearlong restoration, one of the most significant in its 103-year history.
“We are thrilled for the future regarding adding educational programming opportunities, as well as deeper community engagement,” Olden said.
As restoration continues, WF remains a partner, investing in the artists, learners and audiences who will shape Wichita’s cultural future.
