Meet our Planned Giving Consultant

The Foundation continues to build a powerhouse team to meet the emerging needs of our community and magnify our collective impact. 

In October, we welcomed our Planned Giving Consultant, J. Michael “Mike” Lamb. In his part-time role, he will serve as a resource for donors and their estate planning.

Get to know more about Mike:

Share your career journey before joining WF. 

Most of my career has been in higher education with time in student recruitment at Bethel College in Newton for six years, alumni relations at Wichita State University for three years and development with the Wichita State University Foundation and Alumni Engagement for 25 years. 

What are you looking forward to most as our Planned Giving Consultant? 

The Wichita Foundation serves a broad base of philanthropic interests in the community and this role allows me to continue to work with donors in expanding their impact and support through legacy gifts. I look forward to matching the vision for support of donors with the opportunities for impact within the community. 

What do you want people to know about planned giving? 

I’m inspired by the vision and dedication of generous people and donors who seek to invest in local organizations and programs. Their gifts reflect a deep commitment to our community. Our donors also find fulfillment in extending support through estate planning, leaving a lasting impact in Wichita. By channeling assets through wills, trusts, retirement plans, or life insurance, our donors can define their legacies in transformational ways.

Outside of work, how do you spend your time? 

My wife, Susan, and I are delighted to be enjoying bleacher time with our grandchildren and sharing their excitement in learning new skills. I am active in our church and serve as president of the steering committee of a 125-member male chorus that is part of our denomination. For nearly 25 years, I have been an active runner, having completed three full marathons, three half marathons, many 10k and 5k runs and one sprint triathlon. While my marathon days are over, I continue to enjoy evening and weekend runs.
