The latest charitable gift from the Foulston Donor Advised Fund at WF stepped up to aid survivors of human trafficking and exploitation in our community.
John and Peggy Foulston worked with Wichita Foundation (WF) staff to identify pressing community needs that aligned with their charitable goals. They chose to support ICT SOS and its Our Place campaign—a project that will provide resources to survivors.
“This gift will allow us to serve more people in a more trauma-informed space,” said Jennifer White, executive director at ICT SOS. “When a donor invests in the work and trusts the organization to carry it out, it allows nonprofits to be daring and innovative in solving complex problems.”
The new 13,000-square-foot center will be a safe haven designed with trauma-informed principles, featuring spaces for advocacy, therapy, and community resources. An expanded center and enhanced education efforts will further strengthen support for survivors and those working to end exploitation.
ICT SOS will sublease space within the new building to Wichita Recovery Hub, a partnership that helps both nonprofits share costs while ensuring people receive the care and services they need.
“Our new building creates a completely separate client space from the day-to-day hustle of the other aspects of a nonprofit office,” said White. “This new facility is already creating new connections, partnerships, and friendships.”
WF's Director of Engagement, James Woods, emphasized the importance of connecting donors with emerging nonprofit opportunities.
"The Wichita Foundation helps donors discover ways to make a meaningful impact," said Woods. "By understanding the nonprofit landscape, we guide fund holders to direct their giving where it's needed most."
